Optimizing Your YouTube Profile
Your YouTube distribution will likely play a major role in the effectiveness of your online video. To take advantage of the vast opportunities to reach potential clients, you first need to know how to maximize your YouTube profile.
It is important to note, especially in pre-production, that your video should be relatively short, about 3-5 minutes in length. The quality of the video is also important, especially for law firms, as poor-quality videos will not reflect well on your organization and may cause users to tune out.
Interacting with Other Users
One of the interesting things about YouTube is that it allows for a lot of user interaction, which could play to your advantage. Make sure your videos are set to "public" and allow comments, as YouTube tends to pay more attention to videos with a lot of activity associated with them.
To increase interaction, ask viewers to rate your video. This will also result in better search results.
Optimizing Search
Text boxes, meta-data, file naming, and descriptions are important labeling activities that ensure better search results. Experiment with using text boxes within your video to prompt users to click on a link leading to your website. However, use these boxes gingerly, as overuse can become annoying and detract from your message.
Meta-data are the formal keywords, or "tags," that are formally used to describe your specific legal services. In the box designated for tags, make sure you use your top keywords and not a description of your video.
In naming your file and composing descriptions of your video, you want to be as specific as possible related to your practice. Your video‘s title needs to be original in order to stand out, but must also incorporate search engine optimization (SEO) keywords. The title, description and tags are your chance to use your video for SEO purposes.
Your YouTube Profile and Channel
Your channel and profile should capitalize on the branding opportunity provided and include the name of your firm, a description and logo. Your YouTube profile name should be easy-to-remember so that users can access it again in the future.
To maximize views of your online video, embed or link it to other websites and blogs. Email previous and current clients to alert them to the video to increase your number of views and subscribers.
