With so many people losing their homes, it’s probably not a surprise that there are so many foreclosure scams out there, taking advantage of those in financial distress. This video provides some good tips about what to watch out for when selecting someone to help avoid foreclosure. I know of an experienced foreclosure lawyer in Tampa, Florida who can create effective and affordable options for homeowners facing mortgage difficulties. He can provide ways to help you avoid foreclosure and obtain a monthly mortgage payment that you can handle comfortably. Unfortunately, there are many times when foreclosures cannot be avoided. But even once a foreclosure has been initiated, there are numerous ways he can help you fight for the best available outcome to this challenging problem.

Florida Attorney General Speaks Out on Gulf Coast Oil Spill

June 23, 2010 by Otis No Comments »

This ABC Action News report from June 8th includes a clip of Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum at a press conference calling for more rapid and effective response from British Petroleum in regards to the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill.

In May BP  announced it would give the Gulf states $25 million for area contingency plans and $25 million in tourism grants to mitigate the economic impact of the oil spill on the tourism. Reuters reported on June 10th that McCollum sent a letter requesting that BP set up an escrow fund of $2.5 billion dollars to cover damages and long term recovery. Then, BP announced on June 16th that they would set up an escrow fund of $20 million dollars for the Gulf  States to which McCollum issued a statement that his office has "established a process" to begin collecting data and calculating the damages of the spill in Florida.

And it seems that the  “damages” will be significant. Just today the AP ran an article with the title "Gulf property sales slide further on oil fears" which discussed the continued decline in sales and rental of property in the panhandle. The opening of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter this week in Orlando was seen by many as a possible  boost to the Florida tourism industry. The opening of the new theme park has provided some hope that tourism in the Sunshine State will rebound and that in the years to come there will be as many people requiring the services of  an Orlando or Kissimmee real estate attorney as those who need compensation for damages caused by the Deepwater spill on the Gulf Coast.
