Old Lady Teaches Arrogant Driver a Lesson

October 6, 2010 by Otis No Comments »

In the video, some teens filming themselves as they skateboard hear a car screech to a stop, and spin around to see a Mercedes Benz rumbling in front of an old lady who appears to be asleep while standing upright in the crosswalk. The Benz owner honks the horn, and the elderly woman snaps awake and resumes her snail-paced shuffle across the street. Naturally, the Mercedes driver exhibits the exact attitude that you expect: he shows zero restraint or politeness, and begins revving the engine to intimidate the old lady into speeding up her pace. And that’s when things get funny.

There’s lots of speculation about whether this video is real or not. Being that a version can be found with advertising surrounding it from CarInsuranceGurus.com, it’s highly likely that they created this viral sensation as a marketing ploy. It worked well, as the video quickly spread around the internet, inspiring loud praise from thousands for its elderly hero who stood up against the road-rage elitist, who gets his comeuppance via an airbag to the face.

The unwarranted deployment of the steering-wheel airbag is accepted by viewers because of the many recent automobile manufacturer recalls for defects. With automotive companies cutting corners to reduce costs, added to the steam-lined process by which cars are assembled and pushed out the factory doors, it appears as though car defects and malfunctions are becoming increasingly common.

While this video may be fake, airbags deploying for insignificant impacts is nothing new. If an airbag is too sensitive, it may deploy when it is not necessary, potentially injuring the occupant by breaking their nose or other facial bones. The opposite has also been known to occur, where an airbag fails to deploy in the event of an accident, in which case a driver/occupant may incur even more severe injuries from impacting the steering wheel, dashboard, or other hard object. If you ever suffer an injury due to an automobile defect, contact a Los Angeles auto accident lawyer right away.

Luckily for the driver in this video, his air bag seemed to barely fluff his hair (despite his overreaction afterward). Regardless, the question everyone neglects to ask while they cheer for the old lady is does the driver deserve it? Honestly, we don’t know and we don’t care. All we know is that he has a nice car and no patience, and that’s enough. It’s just the right amount of ambiguous ingredient for the viewer to visualize the driver as the bully who picked on them in middle school, or the friend of a friend who always had everything just a little better, or the speed-demon that cuts them off every day. And if the driver is anything like those people, then he certainly deserves it.

Cars Keep Crashing in Snowy Intersection

October 1, 2010 by Otis No Comments »

Cars keep sliding out of control as they enter a snow covered intersection. One after another, they collide into cars along either side of the road, bouncing along like a pinball in a pinball machine.

What keeps causing these cars to slide so uncontrollably is questionable. If any of these people were seriously injured in one of the MANY collisions and hired a personal injury attorney to seek compensation, it might be hard to pin-point the cause of all the slippage with only this video as evidence. But there are a few key indicators.

The snow is not very deep, and for cars to slide that easily, suggests that it’s either extremely cold and icy, or it’s moderately cold and wet. A fluffy, typical snow fall is actually less dangerous than one that is more watery. A watery snow fall will be slushy, and makes it hard for car tires to get any traction. This becomes even more precarious if the temperature quickly drops and the watery snow freezes. The surface essentially becomes a large ice skating rink.

Another important thing to notice is how the cars seem to pick up speed sliding from left to right. Some even begin sliding from a complete stop. This indicates the road probably slopes downward significantly from the left to the right. It’s hard to tell if there is any slope because of the bird’s-eye-view angle the cameraman is filming at.

When road conditions are like they are in the video in areas where snow falls frequently during the winter season, such as Washington state, people should be on their utmost vigilance behind the wheel. Do not attempt to navigate down angled roads when there is a layer of ice or slushy snow on the street. If you are involved in a serious car accident, you should seek the legal assistance of a reliable Vancouver injury attorney.

September 9, 2010 by Otis No Comments »

Alexis Boliek seeks to file for divorce from her husband.  Craig Boliek, her husband, had numerous messages on MySpace from a younger female.  Mr. Boliek gave out their shared cell phone number to this woman and told her to leave a message on the cell phone if she wanted to talk.  Mrs. Boliek has over eight unknown calls coming in throughout all hours of the day.  Because of his wife’s constant nagging, he changes the usage reports on the cell phone so she no longer has access these reports.  Her question is, why?  This divorce court turns into a huge mediation session, with a back and forth case.  Looks like the two of them should have gone to a Lewisville divorce lawyer who has experienced with mediation, child custody, and separation throughout Texas

“A World Without Lawyers”

August 25, 2010 by Otis No Comments »

“Imagine if the government took David’s sling away and gave it to Goliath. Now you understand tort reform.”

- DiRubertis

Corporate giants and insurance companies spend billions of dollars convincing the public that lawyers are all bad and lawsuits are all meritless and frivolous. Yet, if you are seriously injured, deprived of basic individual rights, or wrongfully accused of a crime, only your lawyer will stand by you, weather the storm with you, and fight corporations, insurance companies or the goverment to ensure that you are treated justly under the law.

Think you would prefer a world without lawyers? Think again.
