San Francisco Environmental Attorney | The Arnold Law Practice

Not every environmental problem is a mile deep in the ocean; and not every environmental problem has gotten as bad as this terrible oil spill. Working with an environmental attorney early on will help you identify the legal risks of what you are considering doing.

We have represented people and companies, both small and large who need to find solutions to environmental problems. Environmental law is still as complex as important area of the law. But, we try to be part of the solution and not part of the problem. For instance, we have been voluntarily advising the California UST Fund program in order that it can be restored to financial viability — and provide cleanup solutions to old and new leaks and spills from gas stations. With environmental consultants, property owners, regulators, and vendors of lab services and equipment, we established CORE Environmental Foundation, Inc. www.coreenvironmental.org/ In these ways, we are helping to find solutions to environmental problems in the “real world.” Oil spills on the bottom of the ocean are probably beyond the power of most of us to fix; but there are many situations where some common sense and a lawyer’s experience with environmental rules and regulations will provide a better solution for you than letting contamination continue to spread and get more expensive to fix. If you find yourself in need of an environmental law attorney in San Francisco, then contact the Arnold Law Practice.

Although not technically a lawyer, but a legal clerk and environmental activist, here the real life Erin Brockovich (who was portrayed by the actress Julia Roberts in the eponymous film released in 2000) discusses the class action lawsuit against Pacific Gas & Electric in which she played an integral role. The direct action lawsuit was brought by residents of Hinkley who had suffered illness that they believed was due to water contamination caused by the PG& E’s use of hexavalent chromium to prevent corrosion of a nearby Compressor Station. Here she describes her work with the Hinkley, CA residents who became plaintiffs in the case who were hesitant to take on the California energy company. The case settled in 1996 for over 300 million dollars and was the largest sum ever awarded in a direct action lawsuit.

In the years since the case in Hinkley Brockovich has continued her work in environmental litigation acting as a consultant to asbestos attorneys in toxic tort cases and has worked on other water contamination claims in California and in other states such as Texas.
