Watch as ?former eBay CEO and current California GOP gubernatorial candidate, Meg Whitman is cross-examined by defense attorney Catherine Dearlove, representing Craigslist, as to whether eBay informed Craigslist about eBay’s aggressive plans to expand internationally into the online classified ads business.
In 2005, eBay planned to launch local classified advertising in Europe that would span across four countries and three languages. A few weeks after the proposed launch on September 30th, Craigslist made a significant shareholder decision.
eBay is alleging that Craigslist diluted their minority shareholder stake in Craigslist, and took away their right to appoint a director of the board. In the video below, defense attorney Catherine Dearlove asks Meg Whitman if eBay informed Craigslist about their aggressive plans to expand internationally into the online classified ads business. Dearlove points out that she never informed Craig Newmark or Jim Buckmaster, Craigslist owners and CEOs, of eBay?s plans to launch an independent platform. Whitman explains she could not divulge this information due to a non disclosure agreement.
Whitman goes on to explain she did inform Craigslist that there was a plethora of issues eBay wanted to assist them with; particularly international expansion. However, that ?was not included in the current contract.

Couldn’t believe when I heard about the oil spill off the gulf. BP seems like they have been trying to take efforts to fix the problem, but there are MILLIONS of gallons pouring into the ocean as I write this. I wonder if they would want to start making sure they had a good Phoenix business law attorney, or somewhere located close enough where they could help salvage their reputation management and maybe some of the wildlife as well. Couldn’t believe this video.
